Has anyone else been tinkering with Matrix lately? As I continue to explore the Fediverse technologies I am a bit… confused at how rough the client experience is for that compared to how relatively evolved the Fediverse client experience feels.
Anyway if folks are interested in joining a matrix chat server I am tinkering on let me know!
Yes - I’m evaluating Matrix for purposes of serving as a decentralized and secure chat server for (political) organizers in Atlanta. The goal is to have a service that’s not centrally controlled (and potentially censored). Also, with the latest hack of Discord, the trust level with Slack and Discord is fairly low right now.
Yeah I’m suuuper not thrilled about the discord hack. That felt like a fairly easy to use haven until recently. Lots of UX weirdness in the Matrix ecosystem still. And there was just recently a bunch of drama with the servers so now there are only two or three active server implementations heh.
