Content? Politics? Community? A cool integration you’re looking for? Maybe even a cool domain name? I’m not looking for tips as an instance owner, lol; I’m just curious.
⚠️ We recently released #PeerTube v8.3.1, which fixed several security issues. The full changelog is now available. If you haven’t done so already, please upgrade your platform as soon as possible!
The administration of lemmy.ml routinely abuses its rule 1 anti-bigotry policy to conduct political censorship, deleting documented facts regarding the ukraine invasion, holodomor, and xinjiang abuses under false pretexts of imperialist propaganda, misinformation, and nazism while leaving pro-Kremlin talking points untouched.
I’m not with the SWF, but today they announce a $20,000 grant for a team of a developer and a content creator. I’m no developer, but if anyone wants to apply with me, I’m up for it. :D You can be a part of more than one team. They obviously can’t and won’t take all entries, but why not try?
I’m the maintainer of Catodon, which offers both microblogging and forums (Lemmy-compatible communities), and we noticed that discoverability is not the threadiverse’s strongest point: Our server only showed forums/communities that it “knew” because someone from the server already followed them. In Reddit it’s easy to see if there is a community for a subject you care about; on the Fediverse it’s not that easy.
This is a big one! Caught up with Misskey 2026.10.0, added ActivityPub C2S API support (we know there are not many clients, but we want to do our part for standardization in the Fediverse), added post languages and language filters, replaced Redis with Valkey and many more…
We Distribute is teaming up with Bonfire to develop a new kind of social instance - one that elevates curation and discovery to promote all things Fediverse. It’s a social instance, but also a discovery portal.
This is not going to be a blogpost about “Why do people still use Reddit instead of everyone moving to Lemmy?”. I noticed that even with Mastodon users, who already understand and like the advantages of decentralized platforms, the usage of Lemmy is extremely small, and more people use Reddit. Most of them haven’t even heard of Lemmy. To be fair, the Reddit usage also seems to be fairly low.
Hi, thank you everyone who participated in the Threadiverse Vibrancy Challenge. The rules of the challenge were here, but essentially ten categories had to be claimed each with a unique post or comment.
This is a common support question that we get. It’s great that our platforms let users customize their feed to the extent that they can, but all this customizability can lead to confusion. Content can be hidden based on
I was curious as to where some Threadiverse instances were hosted, as not all explicitly indicate this. Thought that I’d also mention this here in case someone else has an interest in same.
Mastodon is focused on posting on your personal account’s page and doesn’t really support groups AFAIK. Lemmy does have groups (communities) but doesn’t support personal posts. While I get that the two mimic their proprietary counterparts and this defines their functionality, as a self-hoster I’d like to host just one service that would combine the functionality of both Mastodon and Lemmy and potentially other Fediverse platforms.
If you’ve not played The Button before, it’s a very silly game where you press a button. Yes, really.
Ok, so there’s a little more to it than that, including factions, politics, an economy, and season-specific twists and turns.
Hey folks, I have several accounts across the fediverse (Lemmy, pixelfed, mastodon, bookwyrm), and I think it would be neat to have a single identity across all these platforms.
Hi! I’m looking to collate/list community-funded Fediverse ISPs with multiple services. Some aggregate of servers that offer multiple services, not necessarily just Fediverse related, but at least one Fediverse service.
Example of a broken/stale sync: https://lemmy.world/u/debby@hear-me.social shows no activity for 6 months, despite her actual Mastodon profile (https://hear-me.social/@debby) having posts as recent as an hour ago.
To recap, the challenge is to make posts or comments each fitting one of 10 specific criteria. Original challenge thread: https://lemmy.ca/post/70151876
When discussing Fediverse, you sometimes hear the idea that you shouldn’t need different accounts for different platforms.
The “why can’t I comment under Youtube video with my Twitter account”.
In Fediverse it already works to some extent. You can comment under PeerTube video with your Mastodon account, and you can participate in Lemmy thread with your Mastodon account.
What is this functionality called? Does it have specific name?
It’s probably not “single sign-on” and not “federation” from what I understand.
And to what extent is it implemented? Is there some way to participate in Lemmy thread with your PeerTube account?
Is there any progress being made on implementing the initial idea of using any Fediverse account with any other Fediverse platform?
What is the name for the problem of implementing or mapping the platform-specific functionality? As in, neither Mastodon nor PeerTube have the interface for upvoting and downvoting posts.
Wouldn’t it be easiest to implement Fediverse-wide SSO (as in, log into Lemmy interface with your Mastodon account) instead of figuring out some funky mapping and patform interactions?
I built Zyke: Discussion Forum, a discussion forum & social news aggregator like Reddit. Loads fast, moderation is transparent, has user mentions (@), hashtags (#), a democratic voting system and a modern rich text editor.
We’re thrilled to welcome Ambar as our new community facilitator at Framasoft!Ambar will primarily be working with the #PeerTube community so please, give her a warm welcome!
So my understanding is that non-local communities receive interactions from other instances, then the host instance relays those interactions to all subscribed instances.
I can see if accounts do it occasionally and organically but are accounts that exist solely to repost popular and recent posts from twitter/reddit/Facebook healthy for the Fediverse?
The recent releases were full of behind-the-scenes changes and fixes, so I could get to building cool features. And this release pays that off with a handful of large changes.
I’m planning to introduce Peertube to a fairly large group of people who are new to the fediverse. Which instance is the best in terms of how easy it is to get an account and watch federated content as well as having something to discover locally?
The newest attack is of a different order. On August 26, the U.S. State Department designated Autistici/Inventati a Specially Designated Global Terrorist.
why do neither fedidb.com or fediverse.observer have any results for noblogs.org? there is many that have been widely followed on the fediverse for a long time now. See @anne@noblogs.org or @anarchistfront@noblogs.org as examples.

We just released the first release candidate for #PeerTube v8.3.0 last week! 🚀PeerTube admins who want to help us can test it right now and report us any issues they find.⚠️ Be sure to read the important notes before upgrading!👉 github.com/Chocobozzz/PeerTube
We’ve released Bonfire 1.0.7. This one is not built around a single headline feature. It is a broader pass over the interface and some of the parts people use most: feeds, discussions, circles, dashboards and navigation, along with a set of behind-the-scenes optimisations: faster local and remote feed queries, more efficient loading of discussions and dashboard content, and improvements to navigation state and caching to reduce unnecessary work as you move through the app.
I’m building a fanfiction archive and I was wondering whether I should add federation just to the forum or to the whole site and if I add it to the whole site whether or not ActivityPub would be a good fit, like is it possible using ActivityPub to share the load of hosting the files across different instances or is that something unrelated and it’s only useful for typical social interactions?
I still believe that getting access to sports news and commentary would be one of the sure-fire ways to get more people in the Fediverse. But even after all these years, Reddit, Twitter and Instagram obviously completely dominate the space.
The Lemmy interface tells you if there are new unread comments on posts you viewed before. Does that mean Lemmy tracks all the posts you’ve ever viewed and when? Is that information public?
