Tell you are not serious without saying it directly: use Zoom.
Tell you are not serious without saying it directly: nitpick on tools preferences when there are fascists in power killing people in the streets.
So your solution is to use the tools of the fascists to organize against them? Sorry, I’m not into self-sabotage.
For those that care:
Open source tools are neat and all, but in my personal experience they always deliver inferior audio and video streaming.
If the ethical superiority of these tools is truly paramount, you can always simulcast onto them. I don’t think anybody’s stopping you from bridging it yourself.

Maybe stop using that shit. Coding yourself is actually better. Better for everyone, mainly the planet.
This has nothing to do with personal consumption. Consumer politics are not going to do anything about AI
Any use of this requires huge amounts of energy & cooling

On the contrary, if consumer uptake is too shallow, their big gamble on AI comes crashing down. While the fallout of THAT catastrophe will not be gentle, it’ll be a whole lot less catastrophic than the alternative. I will continue to avoid using AI as much as I am legally able, which right now is a lot, and steering any company that I consult with that demands AI into losing massive amounts of money on bad AI decisions. “It’s not me, the AI is quirky like that. Sorry, but I did warn you it was unreliable.” Let it burn. Let it all burn.
