Six Owls of Costa Rica
Crested Owl
From Sean Crockett
I had a pretty damn successful trip to Costa Rica in the owl department. Six species, eleven individuals, and a few nice shots, which is not often easy with owls.
The Crested Owl I found on my own in the reserve of Corcovado SCP Wilderness Lodge. It’s a shame I couldn’t find a window to the owl where I could get rid of that one blurry foreground branch. In hindsight I should have looked for a climbable tree.
For all of the other shots I was guided by Leo Valverde (@birdingcrew on IG). For the Pacific Screech-Owl and the Ferruginous Pygmy-Owl we were joined by local specialist Alvaro Gutierrez (@alvaro_gutierrez_pe on IG), and for the Spectacled Owl we were joined by local specialist Kenny Gutierrez (@kenneth_m_g on IG.

This one may be my favorite. So simple, yet so accurate. An achievement in minimalism.

It was harder that I initially thought
I must say, you really nailed these! I am impressed.
I had to cheat a little and rummage through the unicode list
Ah, that’s not cheating, there’s a lot of unusual characters in there. You were still creative enough to put them together in such a delightful way. That’s the art.
