NASA Launched Space Shuttle Columbia

submitted by That’s my lucky stabbin’ hat!
On Wednesday, NASA launched the space shuttle Columbia on its eighty-seventh voyage. This trip by the shuttle will feature the first spacewalk ever by a Japanese astronaut, who will get to take in the unique perspective of Earth from space. Gee, I wonder if there's any chance he'll.. uh... take a picture.

I don’t get it

A stereotype of Japanese tourists is they would get off their tour bus, take a bunch of photos, then get back on. I think that’s a pretty dated depiction these days.

I should have just guessed the joke was just “racism” because it mentioned a nationality.

They would show up with a lot of nice, big, expensive looking cameras, too. Not the cheapo disposable ones.

There’s a stereotype for Asian tourists carrying large cameras on their neck and taking lots of pictures.

Point of order, no single orbiter flew 87 flights. I suspect this is the 87th space shuttle mission, shared among the fleet, not Columbia’s 87th flight.

You should email Norm so he can publish a correction.
